Please be aware that this is the first and almost the only building in Kyiv, built specifically for the museum. For its construction the competition was run, which won the draft project by G.P.Boytsov. Construction has been carried in 1897 – 1900's under the management of the famous Kyiv architect V. Gorodetsky. Sculpture decoration created by Italian master Elio Salya who had a studio in Kyiv. This house is always used as a museum, now there is the National Art Museum of Ukraine.
Lesja Ukrainka been in this house in 1900. There was situated workshop of artist I.I.Trush, who painted portrait of the poetess. By the way, this portrait is now stored in the same museum where it was painted.
