Lesja Ukrainka moved to this cottage from Chukurlar October 3, 1897. Here she wrote poetries "Oriental melody" (Nov 5, 1897), "Dreams" (Nov 18, 1897), "Winter night in a foreign land»(Dec 15, 29, 1897).

At the end of December 1897 O. P. Kosach (Lesja Ukrainka’s mother) came to Yalta and rented a new apartment in the villa "Iphigenia" on the Vinogradna street. This house has not been preserved to this day. There were made photo of Lesjae with her mother. O. P. Kosach left Yalta on January 11, 1898. At this villa was written dramatic scene «Iphigenia in Taurida" (Jan 15, 1898), poetry "Spring in winter" (Jan 24, 1898). On March 27, 1898, her sisters Olga and Oksana came to visit Lesja. They stayed here until April 11. May 29, 1898 Lesja Ukrainka left the Yalta by steamer to Odessa.

It should be noted that the street, which in the late 19th century. was called Vinogradna, now called Chekhov street. This is one of the main streets in Yalta.
