The essay presents a comparison between the two masterpieces of the world literature, namely «Cassandra» by Lesya Ukrainka and «Hamlet» by William Shakespeare. The ways how the plots are developed and the two main characters are compared. The author introduces an interpretation of the character of Cassandra in Lesya Ukrainka's poem for stage, partly based on the association with that of Hamlet.
