In the "Studies" section we continue publishing a book R. Zadesnjansky "Lesja Ukrainka creativity" (1965). Today – the section "Lesia Ukrainka’s "Forest Song" and Hauptmann’s "Flooded Bell".
There can be no talk of imitation or borrowing either in the understanding of the idea, nor in the understanding of the plot, nor in the understanding of the types and background.

"Bojarynja" is a denial of the justification of the Dragomanov’s propaganda – comprehension of small goals with the support of "favored" Muscovites and excessive armed struggle with the Muscovite people.

Lesja Ukrainka does not deal with the problem of betrayal, does not analyse of the proponents who have brought to it, only by the methods of defense of the traitor, only by the attempt of the traitor to bleach himself before the court of conscience.

The Ukrainian relations created this problem, but the clarity and expressiveness of the solution can be guaranteed only by transferring from the sphere of a particular "arithmetic" into the sphere of abstract "algebra".
